Johnny Depp thrilled British pub`s staff by tips
The actor is shooting his new film `Dark Shadows` at Pinewood Studios in Buckinghamshire, which is just outside London, and although he staying at a £1,000-a-night, five star hotel in Ascot, Johnny has preferred to spend his evenings in local pub the Thatched Tavern.
A source told the Daily Star newspaper: "Johnny is staying at the five star country manor house estate in Coworth Park in Ascot.
"Instead of choosing from the four hotel restaurants, including one which is Michelin-starred, he decided to hang out at a nearby pub with locals.
"Johnny chose to have dinner and drinks in the Thatched Tavern pub a mile-and-a-half up the road from his hotel. On the first night he left a £300 tip for pub staff, followed by £400 the night after."
Along with splashing his cash, Johnny - who is staying in the English countryside with his partner Vanessa Paradis and their two children Lily Rose, 12, and Jack, nine - has delighted staff with his down to earth attitude.
A source added: "Obviously everyone was really excited to hear Johnny Depp was in the village. But he kept himself to himself in the pub. He wasn`t attracting any attention or trying to get noticed.
"He seemed really nice and said he loves the English countryside. The girls in the pub said he was nothing but charming."
This is not the first time generous Johnny has handed out a huge tip, the 47-year-old actor previously delighted staff at a Chicago eatery when he left a whopping $4,000 gratuity.
